Blacksmithing Demonstration to be Held During Bowman County Fair
Pioneer Trails Regional Museum, Yesterday’s Farmers, and Bowman County Fair Association are bringing Kerwin Lund to the Bowman County Fair on August 7 and 8 to demonstrate traditional blacksmithing techniques.
Kerwin Lund from Manvel ND has been blacksmithing for over 40 years. Kerwin and his family have demonstrated Traditional Blacksmithing across North Dakota from Fort Buford to Fargo and into South Dakota, Minnesota and Montana. Kerwin has demonstrated Wheel Wright work for the Western Canadian Wheel Wright Assortation. Kerwin is a member of the Northern Minnesota Guild of Metalsmiths.
Kerwin also has taught many beginner blacksmiths over the years, helping them learn the craft and set up their own Blacksmith shops. Kerwin uses Coal and Gas forges along with all the traditional tools of the trade.
Kerwin forges all the items for out door cooking and primitive camping items.
At the Bowman Fair he will be demonstrating Traditional Blacksmithing using both Coal and Propane Forges. He will also have some Basic hands on forging opportunities available. Kerwin will be at the Bowman County Fairgrounds on August 7 and 8 from 10 am to 6 pm. This program is free and open to the public.
